Welcome to Southern Standard Nannies
Family Assistant

Family Assistants are the answer once the littles are entertaining themselves!

What makes a great family assistant?

We're glad you asked.

Before we dive into the details: the hourly rate for family assistants through our agency typically ranges from $26-35+ per hour, plus our placement fee. This investment reflects the expertise of thoroughly vetted childcare professionals who also have a unique ability to manage a busy household behind the scenes. This rate reflects the exceptional candidates we present - individuals with glowing references who often bring additional skills like:

★ Fluency in multiple languages
★ Years of experience with multiple families
★ Specialized training in child development
★ Expertise with specific age groups or situations
★ Experience multi-tasking in busy households
★ Proven accountability/ownership with organization
★ Advanced education or certifications
★ Strong track records of long-term family relationships

Importantly, these competitive rates lead to stronger, longer-lasting placements. When employees feel valued and financially secure, they're more likely to stay with your family for years- providing the consistency and stability that helps children thrive. A professional family assistant is more than a childcare provider- they're a partner in your child's development and your family's well-being. They maintain your home's flow, and are a key contributor to your children's childhoods.

While the kiddos are with them, we want them focused on the childhood they are helping create and they draw from years of experience

Our Process

We'll help make this critical hiring process easy

Getting to Know Your Family

A thoughtful beginning to a beautiful partnership
Every great match starts with understanding your family’s world. First, you’ll fill out our family application— your initial leap into sharing your world with our team. We want to understand what you're looking before we're on our consultation call with you. From there, we'll send you an email with more details and a link to schedule a call with Laura or Austin!

Once we're aligned, we move into a deeper, 90-minute discovery session with our extensive team where we learn: your routines, values, parenting style, and hopes for the ideal caregiver. We may talk a little about your childhood. We may talk a little about the childhood you're aiming to create for your little ones.

Together, we’ll craft a personalized job description that reflects exactly what your family needs to thrive.

The Matching & Hiring Journey

Our wheels begin to turn...
With your family’s story at the center, we begin reaching out to trusted professionals who align beautifully with your needs. We curate a shortlist of candidates who not only meet your criteria, but who also feel right for your home’s energy and rhythm. You’ll receive our comprehensive interview guide to support meaningful conversations with each candidate.

Your interviewing process happens in three steps: a virtual interview (we'll handle the setup for this), an in-person interview at your home, and then a dinner you'll have with your finalist. This is a big relationship and we want to make sure things feel like a GREAT fit before you make an offer.

When you’re ready, we provide polished hiring templates to help you craft the perfect offer. And once your nanny joins your home, our relationship doesn’t end— we stay connected, offering ongoing support long after the match is made (we have clients who have been in our network for almost a decade)!

Can I hire a family assistant if I have an infant in the household?

Theoretically, you can hire anyone you'd like- but we don't recommend a family assistant until the youngest member of your family is 3 years old. Preferably, the individual you're hiring has at least 3 hours of focused time in your home every day where they are not the sole caretaker for a child under 3 years old. This allows them to really dig into household maintenance, tasks, and high level communication and execution.

Have a little one under the age of 3? We'd point you in the direction of a nanny or a nanny and an additional hire.

Is Southern Standard Nannies able to accomodate short-term placements?

Our firm is able to work with your family on almost any request. We have a dedicated team of back-up care providers who can step in to fill a need almost immediately and also have access to a pool of caregivers who prefer to work shorter commitment positions for us.Fill out our family form and schedule a call to learn more!
