A lovable family in the 12 south area needs a hands-on Family Assistant to help them with the day to day bustle of life. They have a B10, B7, and G3 year old and are in need of a loving person whose love for children, and taking care of others is rooted in their core. All the kids are in school full time, so childcare is focused in the afternoons and there will be time earlier in the day to focus on other tasks. Safety is big for this family, so having a preventative approach to safety awareness is critical.

This family gets deep with the humans that care for their children and home. They aim to build a bond that feels both familial and professional. Their goal for their family assistant is to keep the kids safe, happy, and on schedule and to also keep their household running by helping with meal prep/cooking, laundry, shopping, errand running and helping manage the kids’ calendars.

Mom and dad are both deep into their careers, so a support system at home is critical, knowing they can easily take over at the end of the day with everything being handled by their nanny/family assistant throughout the workday. The role is a balance of household help in the mornings/mid-day and childcare in the afternoons until the parents get home. They often need someone to stay overnight with the kids and get them to bed and out the door in the morning when dad has an overnight shift and mom is traveling for work. This is an important piece of the position and they need someone who is flexible to help with this.

These parents will want you to reinforce kindness and good manners in their children while being able to curb the not so great habits as a united front. The kids function well with house rules, so learning those and being able to be firm with the kids is important. During the school year, it’s the children’s jobs to be focused on their studies and extracurriculars and this should be echoed by the FA too. Being intentional with each child is also critical and familiarity with Big Little Feelings and/or The Whole Brain Child would be great since they use these methods in their home. Some highlights to them that they look for in people are a deep love for children, a kind and caring person who is willing to be helpful and supportive in any way, someone who will go above and beyond to keep their kids safe and cared for when mom and dad are working. They would love someone who can travel with them occasionally too!
